Praised be Jesus and Mary! My name is Sister Mary Vianney, MSSR, and I am a member of the Marian Sisters of Santa Rosa and the Director of Faith Formation for Catholic Schools.
This office exists to help foster, grow, support, and encourage a deep and abiding practice and witness of the Catholic faith for the students, staff, and faculty in our Catholic schools. In partnership with the Catholic schools in our diocese this office strives to help all those who are involved in the schools to have a loving relationship with Our Lord Jesus Christ and His Blessed Mother.
It is a joy to hear stories from various schools that demonstrate a living and loving faith. Stories abound about students seeking the Sacraments due to the witness of the faith at the school, joyful service to others in imitation of Our Lord, inquisitive questions to dive deeper into the faith (anything from "How is the Trinity three in one" with only one minute of class left or "Do ALL Sisters wear glasses?"), and so much more! We also enjoy the opportunities to gather together for prayer as a diocesan family with events such as praying the Rosary with Bishop Vasa and a diocesan-wide May Crowning.
We are honored to help all new contracted employees to be certified as catechists and support schools in providing on-going formation. Many administrators, teachers, and staff see their work as a ministry - and it truly is! Simply by being employed at a Catholic school one immediately becomes part of the mission, which ultimately is to form students into Saints. This is not done in spite of academic excellence but rather hand in hand with it. With a strong emphasis on faith formation in conjunction with outstanding academics, students are formed to be a truly whole person ready to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and JesusChristwhom You have sent." John 17:3. Certification as a catechist and ongoing formation in the faith provide the educators with the foundation and inspiration necessary to be a living witness to the students.
May Our Blessed Mother guide us in our efforts!
"We fly to thy patronage, O Holy Mother of God, despise not our petitions in our necessities but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin." ~Sub Tuum Praesidium, a third century prayer to Our Lady imploring her assistance.
