Victims of abuse, God of endless love, ever caring, ever strong, always present, always just:
You gave your only Son over to suffering and death. Gentle Jesus, shepherd of peace; join to your own suffering, the pain of all who have been hurt in body, mind, and spirit by those who betrayed the trust placed in them. Hear our cries as we agonize over the harm done to our brothers and sisters. Breathe wisdom into our prayers; soothe restless hearts with hope, steady shaken spirits with faith. Show us the way to justice and wholeness. Enlightened by truth and enfolded in your mercy, Holy Spirit, comforter of hearts, heal your people’s wounds and transform our brokenness. Grant us courage and wisdom, humility and grace, so that we may act with justice and find peace in you. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. AMEN
USCCB, c. 2004
If you or someone you know has been harmed by sexual misconduct by a member of the clergy or an employee or volunteer of the Diocese of Santa Rosa, we would like to help.
It must be difficult for you or someone you know to have been harmed by a person in whom you placed your trust. The hurt you feel deserves to be expressed and listened to in an open, honest and respectful way. We want to be supportive by providing the pastoral assistance needed to help deal with the anguish and frustration you are enduring.
We encourage you to report any allegation to the appropriate authorities. We can assist with that. Our desire to live the values of compassion and justice call us to assist you with what you need by providing spiritual and emotional support. Whether you have questions, would like to tell your story or report an allegation, we want to listen.
